LENS Neurofeedback

LENS Neurofeedback (Low Energy Neurofeedback System) is a is a gentle, brain-based therapy designed to support nervous system regulation and cognitive flexibility. Sensors on different parts of the head gather real-time EEG brainwave data. LENS identifies where brainwave "suppression" is occurring and sends the information back to the itself. When this happens, the pattern is disrupted and the suppression lifts, promoting improved self-regulation and overall brain functioning. Suppressed brainwave activity can occur following physical accidents, chronic stress, or traumatic events. This can sometimes lead to feels of depression, anxiety, hyper-reactivity, chronic pain, or other psychosomatic symptoms.

More About LENS

LENS is a non-invasive form of direct neurofeedback. With direct neurofeedback, there's no effort or activity that the client must do during the appointment. This makes it a pleasant experience for the client who simply sits still in a chair. LENS only runs for a few seconds at a time to start and then it is moved to different locations on the head. Each appointment bases it's information on the most recent data so each appointment varies slightly as the brain changes over time.

LENS neurofeedback allows the brain to self-analyze, and self correct when appropriate. Many people notice an immediate sense of mental calmness and physical relaxation. Since LENS works with patterns, some people notice the change over time as they continue to engage with their life. Brains are neuroplastic, meaning positive change is always possible. LENS helps the brain improve itself, with its own innate capacity for change. LENS is safe for people of all ages.

Who Can Benefit from LENS Neurofeedback?

LENS Neurofeedback may be helpful for individuals experiencing:

  • Chronic stress or nervous system dysregulation

  • Anxiety or emotional reactivity

  • Attention, focus, or cognitive fatigue difficulties

  • Post-concussion symptoms or mild traumatic brain injury

  • Sleep disturbances

  • Mood instability

  • Sensory sensitivity or feeling easily overwhelmed

Discussion about traumatic events is not needed for effectiveness. LENS is a great option for individuals who prefer not to talk or mentally re-visit traumatic events.

Benefits of LENS Neurofeedback

No Active Training Required
Clients do not need to concentrate, perform tasks, or consciously alter their brain activity.

Supports Self-Regulation
By helping the brain disengage from stuck patterns, LENS may support improved emotional regulation, clarity, and resilience.

Gentle and Non-Invasive

LENS uses extremely low levels of stimulation and is considered one of the least intrusive neurofeedback modalities.

Time-Efficient
Sessions are typically brief, making LENS accessible even for individuals with limited availability or low tolerance for longer therapy sessions.

What to Expect
  1. Initial Assessment
We review your history, goals, and suitability for LENS Neurofeedback.

  2. Brief Sessions
Sensors are placed on various points on the scalp to measure brain activity. Feedback is delivered for only seconds at a time across specific sites. Duration of feedback may increase or vary over the weeks and is tailored to each individual.

  3. Ongoing Monitoring
Your EEG data is monitored across sessions, and protocols are adjusted as needed. Each appointment is based on the previous one - unless a significant amount of time has lapsed.

Format and Course of Treatment
  • Sessions are typically short and scheduled 1x or 2x per week

  • 10 sessions of LENS is recommended to experience the full effect of the therapy. However, it is not necessary. Many clients notice positive change within the first few appointments.
